JOB TITLE:    Product Manager
LOCATION: Swindon
PACKAGE:     £40-50k
WAY OF WORKING: Office based
THE BUSINESS:
My client are a successful family run travel business with a superb ever growing brand and excellent reputation.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Responsible for the output and delivery of the product pipeline team, to manage the team's workload ensuring that all requirements of trading are met, to prioritise work as needed on a daily and weekly basis to drive the budget requirements, delivering passengers in each product category to achieve all KPI’s, working alongside the other functions within the product department including trading and the wider teams within the organisation. Bringing new product builds into the business, ensuring the quality, appropriateness and volumes are sufficient to meet business needs to protect and evolve our product portfolio.

Key accountabilities:

  • To converse confidently and professionally to 3rd parties and their account managers on a regular basis to ensure all product needs are agreed to, that will achieve agreed targets
  • To be the product escalation for trading and to be present in all fundamental meetings
  • To lead and direct all workload appropriately to the product developers, prioritising their daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
  • Work closely with the trading, product support, contracting and the marketing teams to ensure capacities and new products are handed over in a timely manner
  • To coach, mentor and review work set with the product Developers to ensure all needs of the pipeline are met and are built to deliver to the KPI’s with agreed volumes
  • Responsible for your countries margin and ROI targets as agreed with the business.
  • To create and collaborate with the product team and other departments to create new product ideas, evolving our current product range, either evolving the USP or region using historical data, using current trends and competitor analysis to deliver new products to the pipeline
  • To support the business with product builds to facilitate the pipeline when needed
  • To confidently pitch new products to the team and to the wider senior management team, presenting facts, any historical data, and any rate suggestions
  • To manage the pipeline, planner, and monthly product plans, to ensure that the documents are kept up to date and all deadlines are kept on top of and delivered upon
  • Own the operational meetings to sign off all new packages
  • To confidently own the delivery of all new products from start to end, to own the hand over any new products in a timely manner to the Sales team, clearly tracking the products progress through its test phase and reviewing the performance with the commercial manager until the product has been signed off
  • Secure appropriate allocations with 3rd parties at exclusive/competitive rates setting up 3rd party groups to protect stock and to follow the hand over process to the operations team to track and manage the allocations
  • To be fully aware and on top of key competitor activity, to be signed up to all competitor e-shots and to be reviewing midweek and weekend press advertising
  • Review the commercial and operational performance of each product both on sale and off sale to capture the success for future products and to assess any areas of improvement moving forward
  • To confidently resolve problems and or suggest solutions to problems
Key Skills required:
  • A high level of organisational skills
  • To confidently present product theories and rationale with resilient attitude towards feedback
  • Working alongside the Head of Product to agree monthly and quarterly targets are set and agreed
  • Excellent knowledge of the market and competitor strategies.
  • To demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to create and motivate a dynamic team who deliver positive results with a positive attitude.
  • Has the ability to confidently manage a team by motivating and mentoring, with good organisational and social skills and ability to get the very best output from the team to hit all goals and tasks set.
  • Ensuring that the team deliver the work set to the highest standard, both collectively and individually and that all staff achieve their KPI’s 
  • Commercially astute, numerate, and comfortable with analytics, pricing, negotiating, ROI and yield management
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and able to deliver under pressure
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities. Able to balance future planning with fast-moving and high-pressure trading needs which deliver to the timescales agreed.
  • Passionate about travel and keen/able to travel to and research a range of destinations
  • Flexible to working around the business needs as required.
