JOB TITLE: Systems Administrator

LOCATION: Gloucester (Hybrid/Remote Available)
SALARY: Up to £45,000
WAY OF WORKING: Full Time | Hybrid | Permanent

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR ROLE:

You’ll work closely with other IS teams to implement and optimise proven technologies, ensuring secure and efficient IT infrastructure to support business goals and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Project Support:
    • Assist with IS technical projects focused on engineering requirements.
    • Ensure timely delivery of assigned projects and maintain clear technical documentation.
    • Prepare presentations for project proposals, feasibility studies, and project updates.
  • Server Infrastructure Management:
    • Build and configure Windows servers, including operating systems and associated services.
    • Monitor server performance and maintain compliance with security standards.
    • Rack and install physical equipment and set up SQL servers.
    • Manage database creation and ongoing maintenance.
  • System Support & Administration:
    • Provide Level 2 and occasional Level 3 support for IS infrastructure and systems.
    • Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, conducting root cause analyses and recommending preventative measures.
    • Manage data center hardware, including changes, updates, and decommissioning servers.
    • Automate repetitive administrative tasks and develop scripts to prevent recurring incidents.
    • Participate in on-call support rotations with other IS personnel.

YOUR KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong experience with Windows server environments, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in SQL Server setup and database management.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement lasting solutions.
  • Experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell to automate processes.
  • Knowledge of IT security standards and regulatory compliance.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure and server provisioning.
  • Familiarity with middleware and database systems.
  • Knowledge of data center management and hardware lifecycle practices.
